Common questions
How do I find out if my baby's car seat or crib has been recalled?
Health Canada's recalls site lists published notices. For child car seats, Transport Canada says to register the seat with its maker, search Transport Canada's car seat alerts, or use the Government of Canada recalls app. Tot Recall is a free app that also checks the products you save against Canadian and U.S. recalls. Transport Canada: stay informed · recalls-rappels.canada.ca
Is Tot Recall free?
Yes. Tot Recall is free, with no ads and no sign-up to start.
Does Tot Recall find every recall?
No. It compares your saved products with recalls published by Health Canada, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Transport Canada, the U.S. CPSC and the U.S. FDA. If it finds nothing, that only means no match was found on the date shown; always follow the official notice. Data sources
What can't Tot Recall know?
It can't know about recalls that haven't been published yet, products you haven't saved, or details that differ from the notice, so a possible match may not be yours. It also can't give medical advice: ask a pharmacist or doctor. The official notice is the authority.
Is Tot Recall run by the government?
No. Tot Recall is an independent app made by Bazaar Supply and Digital Inc. It uses public government recall data and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any government. Data sources
Where is my product list stored?
In Canada. Your list uses an anonymous ID unless you sign in, and photos of stickers stay on your phone. Privacy policy
Will it alert me to every recall?
No. Alerts are sent only when a new recall matches or may match a product you saved, at most once a day for each product. "Related" recalls never send an alert. How it works
What about hand-me-down or second-hand baby gear?
Health Canada advises checking the maker and Health Canada for recalls before buying used, and making an unfixed recalled product unusable. Tot Recall can check a second-hand item once you save its name or model. Health Canada: second-hand products
